Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs seeks an Instructional Aide to join our Special Education team in California. You will provide personalized classroom and community-based support, helping implement IEPs and tailor instruction to each student’s needs.

You will work closely with educators to monitor progress, reinforce positive behavior, and foster essential life and academic skills in Grades K-12. This role requires patience, empathy, and a collaborative approach within our student-centered

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test.
Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
Valid CA driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
Ability to drive in a company van with students as needed.
Certification in crisis management training or willingness to obtain.
CA paraprofessional credential preferred.
Experience supporting children, especially in special education or behavioral health.
Experience with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities.
Strong motivation and ability to have constructive conversations with students.
Ability to think clearly and act quickly in emergencies; make independent decisions.
Excellent oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of instructional technology, MS Office, database entry, and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with teachers to create supportive, high-achieving classrooms where all students feel safe.
Provide individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers on milestones and needs.
Support and mentor students facing academic challenges and help develop essential skills.
Maintain confidentiality of student records and documentation, reporting observations.
Assist with preparation of behavioral reports and daily activity logs.
Communicate proactively with students, families, and staff regarding student needs and achievements.
Participate in assurance, accreditation activities and school-wide meetings.
