Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide to join our Special Education team and support students in Grades K-12. You’ll collaborate with teachers to implement IEPs, provide individualized instruction, and help students develop essential academic and life skills.

You will assist with classroom activities, behavior support, and progress tracking, while maintaining confidentiality and contributing to a positive, growth-focused learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test.
• Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license or ability to obtain.
• Certification in crisis management training or ability to obtain.
• Paraprofessional/teaching assistant credential preferred.
• Experience with children; SPED/behavioral health setting preferred.
• Experience with disabilities incl. autism, EBD.
• Valid driver’s license for transporting students preferred.
• Ability to think clearly in emergencies and make decisions.
• Strong motivation, communication, and goal-oriented conversations.
• Proficient in oral/written communication, organization, and multitasking.
• Knowledge of instructional tech, Microsoft Office, and database entry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
• Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.
• Monitor and support students during lessons; ensure instructional fidelity.
• Track student progress and communicate with teachers on outcomes.
• Manage student behavior consistent with school policies.
• Mentor students to develop academic, social, and community skills.
• Document student behaviors and performance; report observations.
• Assist with preparing behavioral reports and activity logs.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff regarding needs and progress.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
• Participate in accreditation activities and school-wide meetings.
• Respond to feedback and participate in ongoing professional growth.
