Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant - Special Education to support both general and special education students with IEPs under the direction of a special education teacher.

The role involves assisting with classroom duties, preparing instructional materials, and administering accommodations, while supervising students on bus, at lunch, and during activities as needed. A high school diploma and First Aid/CPR/AED certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; supporting IEP-based instruction.
• Ability to supervise students in the absence of the special education teacher.
• Ability to perform basic clerical tasks and file records.

Responsibilities

• Assists special education teachers with classroom duties such as recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Supports students during instructional activities (1:1, small groups, or whole group) as directed.
• Assists with bus duties and supervision at lunch and recess per IEP.
• Provides clerical assistance and maintains records; orders supplies.
• Follows IEP accommodations and works with related services providers.
