Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant to provide classroom and environmental supports under the direction of a special education teacher. The role includes assisting with activities, preparing instructional materials, and supporting students with IEPs in general and special education settings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of childhood growth and development and behavior management.
• Ability to perform basic clerical tasks and maintain records.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to supervise students in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Support students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole class).
• Document student progress as directed.
• Assist students onto and off the school bus and supervise during lunch and recess.
• Serve as bus aide as indicated in IEP.
• Implement accommodations in a child’s IEP as directed.
• Provide clerical assistance – typing, filing, maintaining records and ordering supplies.
• Perform other related duties.
