Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a Special Education Instructional Assistant to support teachers in implementing IEPs, monitor student progress, and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment across elementary, middle, or high school settings.

You will aid instructional planning, assist with behavioral intervention plans, manage materials, and help with low- and high-tech assistive technology and AAC devices; CPI certification training is provided through WCPSS.

Qualifications

• Required high school diploma or GED with relevant coursework or experience.
• CPI certification required; training provided by WCPSS if needed.
• ESSA Title I site requirements may apply for certain schools.
• Preferred CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with implementing IEPs and monitoring student progress.
• Support behavioral intervention plans and classroom routines.
• Prepare materials and ensure availability per lesson plan.
• Utilize assistive technology and AAC devices to meet student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate records in FERPA-compliant manner.
• Help coordinate student transitions and maintain a safe learning environment.
