Job summary

Stevenson Elementary in Mesa, AZ is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education I - Resource for part-time work (29 hours/week). The role supports certified teachers in monitoring and instructing students with IEPs, assists with daily living activities and reduces clerical load on staff.

Starting immediately, required qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or 60 college credits or ParaPro Test; preferred is a high school diploma plus experience with children.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience working with children preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom work under teacher direction and reinforce objectives
• Assist the development of instructional materials and classroom maintenance
• Assist in data collection on academic and behavior goals
• Support positive behavior intervention plans for active students
• Transfer and/or lift non-ambulatory students to support daily activities
• Assist with personal hygiene to develop students’ daily living activities
• Accompany students during transitions across campus
• Monitor small groups to maintain a safe learning environment
• Perform general clerical tasks to support the teacher
• Attend meetings to improve skills and knowledge
