Job summary

Waltham Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Evaluation Team Leader to serve as instructional leader and compliance coordinator for the district. Based primarily at school sites, you will oversee evaluations, IEP compliance, and staff mentoring to ensure high-quality services for students with disabilities.

The role requires a Master’s in Special Education, state licensure, and at least 5 years as a SPED teacher, with strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive inclusive

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education (required).
• State certification in Special Education.
• Minimum 5 years of successful experience as a special education teacher (secondary level preferred).
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, State and Federal Special Education Regulations.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, collaboration, and communication.
• Demonstrated skills in problem solving / resolution.
• Experience facilitating IEP, evaluation, and procedural special education meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership to special education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals.
• Coordinate and oversee evaluations, reevaluations, and eligibility determinations.
• Mentor and support teachers in best practices for instruction, inclusion and student engagement.
• Promote equity, collaboration, and high expectations for students with disabilities.
• Review and edit IEPs for annual reviews and reevaluations.
• Monitor timelines, service delivery, and documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with administrators and staff to support inclusive practices.
