Job summary

The Lansing School District is hiring a Testing Teacher Consultant to support the special education evaluation process. You will collaborate with school psychologists and classroom teams to complete initial and reevaluation REEDs, administer achievement assessments, and monitor timelines.

You will communicate with families and help ensure evaluations are thorough and compliant with requirements. A Master’s Degree and Michigan Teacher Consultant approval are required, with a focus on supporting

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree; approval as a Teacher Consultant by the Michigan Department of Education.
• Supports Special Education students.
• Collaborate with lead and classroom teachers to support student behaviors and academics.
• Learning disability and emotional impairment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth, assessments, diagnosis, and related research.
• Understanding of rules for Child Study Teams and special education requirements.
• Demonstrates strong English communication, oral and written.
• Ability to use word processing, data management, presentations and telecommunications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain caseload of at-risk learners and provide behavioral interventions resulting in academic success.
• Meet timelines and monthly deadlines.
• Assist families with finding necessary resources.
• Monitor students’ data to demonstrate growth in academics and behavior.
• Develop and monitor goals for students and success criteria.
• Communicate student plans to staff for whole-school improvement.
• Collaborate with administration to address needs of at-risk learners.
• Provide staff development sessions to increase competency and student participation.
• Identify and report child abuse and neglect.
• Other duties as assigned.
