The Lansing School District seeks an ECRP Teacher Consultant to split time between Averill and Gier Park. The role provides critical support to Special Education students, collaborating with teachers and school administration to improve behaviors and academic outcomes.

You will develop and monitor individualized plans for at-risk learners, guide staff on effective interventions, ensure compliance with regulations, and engage with families and the community to promote student success.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree with approval as Teacher Consultant by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • ECSE Endorsement (ZN or ZS) and any K-12 Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience with Special Education students and related supports.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with teachers and families.
  • Proficiency with data collection and behavior intervention planning.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of at-risk learners and provide behavioral interventions to promote academic success.
  • Develop and monitor individual goals and improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with school administration to support interventions for at-risk students.
  • Conduct staff development sessions to improve intervention strategies for academic and behavioral success.
  • Track and analyze student data to measure academic and behavioral growth.
  • Identify and report cases of child abuse and neglect.
  • Attend staff meetings and provide resources to support school and community programs.

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of our mission, we are looking to hire an ECRP Teacher Consultant who will split time between Averill and Gier Park. The Teacher Consultant will provide critical support to Special Education students, collaborating with teachers and school administration to improve student behaviors and academic outcomes. This role involves developing and monitoring individualized plans for at-risk learners, providing staff with guidance on effective interventions, and ensuring compliance with special education regulations. The Teacher Consultant will also engage with families, staff, and the community to support student success and promote a positive learning environment.

Qualifications - Education & Certification
  • Master’s Degree and prior approval as a Teacher Consultant by the Michigan Department of Education.
  • ECSE Endorsement (ZN or ZS)
  • Any K-12 Special Education endorsement
Qualifications - Prior Experience
  • Experience working with Special Education students, including support for learning disabilities and emotional impairments.
  • Familiarity with child growth and development, assessment methods, and classroom management strategies.
Qualifications - Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of special education regulations, particularly regarding Child Study Teams and program requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Lead and Classroom Teachers to address student behaviors and academic needs.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in using electronic equipment for data management, information retrieval, and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.

Salary is determined based on education, certification, and experience in equivalent roles, per the LSEA contract.
