Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Special Education Testing Teacher Consultant to provide academic, behavioral, and special education support to students, staff, and families. The role collaborates with school teams to monitor progress, plan interventions, and ensure IDEA compliance.

Responsibilities include supporting problem-solving teams, assisting with referrals and evaluations, and delivering staff development on accommodations and instructional strategies to promote student success

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree and Teacher Consultant approval by the Michigan Department of Education.
• Experience with learning disabilities and emotional impairment preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth, assessments, and research related to learning.
• Understanding of Child Study Teams and special education requirements.
• Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken.
• Ability to use word processing, data management, and presentation tools.
• Attend required staff meetings and participate on staff committees.
• Share resources with families and staff.
• Deliver staff development sessions to boost competency and student success.

Responsibilities

• Meet timelines and monthly deadlines.
• Assist families with finding necessary resources.
• Monitor students’ data to demonstrate growth.
• Develop and monitor goals for students and criteria for success.
• Communicate individual plans to staff for a whole-school approach.
• Collaborate with administration to support at-risk learners.
• Provide staff with information to develop interventions.
• Support MET and Child Study Teams via data review and planning.
• Identify and report child abuse and neglect.
• Other duties as assigned.
