Overview

The Psychoeducational Consultant conducts and supports in-person, school-based psychoeducational evaluations and participates in meetings remotely, in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. This role collaborates closely with school teams and families to gather data, interpret assessment results, and support eligibility and educational decision-making. Consultants have flexibility to manage their own schedules, with in-person testing and observations balanced by remote report writing and virtual meeting attendance. The position may involve direct support in complex or high-priority cases and serves as a district-facing liaison for quality, compliance, and communication. Responsibilities also include addressing district concerns related to timelines, report quality, and evaluation processes using a solution-oriented approach. Strong assessment expertise, knowledge of IDEA and Michigan regulations, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and Support Evaluations
    • Complete psychoeducational evaluations, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
    • Collaborate with school teams and families to gather relevant data, interpret results, and support eligibility decisions.
    • Provide direct testing or observation support for evaluations when needed, especially in high-priority or complex cases.
    • Familiarity with IEP software/data entry, including facilitation of eligibility determination discussions with the team at meetings.
  • District Collaboration and Representation
    • Attend district-facing REED and Eligibility/IEP meetings, serving as a quality and compliance liaison between CSES and school partners.
    • Address district concerns related to evaluations, timelines, and report quality with professionalism and solution-oriented communication.
  • Miscellaneous Duties
    • Fulfill other duties as assigned, especially those aligned with organizational growth and clinician support.
Job Requirements
  • Education & Licensure
    • Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology
    • Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure in Michigan
  • Professional Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting school-based psychoeducational evaluations
    • Prior experience reviewing or supervising psychological reports preferred
    • Experience interfacing with school district personnel, IEP teams, and multidisciplinary teams
    • Familiarity with IDEA, state education codes, and compliance regulations
  • Technical & Clinical Skills
    • Strong knowledge of standardized assessments, report writing, and special education eligibility frameworks
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in digital systems used for documentation, scheduling, and reporting (e.g., Google Workspace, spreadsheets)
    • Competency with Strengths & Weaknesses Model for SLD eligibility
  • Organizational & Interpersonal Abilities
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
    • Strong meeting facilitation and documentation skills
