Job summary

The Supervisor of Special Education at Williamsburg James City School District Central Office provides division‑level leadership, oversight for compliance, and coordination of IEP and 504 services across the division. Qualifications

• Master's degree with K-12 Administration and Supervision endorsement.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and related regulations.
• Experience supporting school teams with complex student needs and disputes.
• Experience supervising or evaluating staff preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and manage timelines.
• Collaborates with administrators, families, legal counsel, and division leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide division-level oversight of special education compliance.
• Monitor eligibility, IEPs, 504, and timelines.
• Lead dispute resolution, state complaints, and due process.
• Collaborate with legal counsel on compliance matters.
• Provide technical assistance on evaluations, IEPs, and 504.
• Oversee ESY services and data reporting in the Virginia IEP system.
• Supervise and evaluate assigned staff; provide coaching.
• Develop training materials and procedures.
