Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an Instructional Specialist to support Section 504 implementation and ADA compliance across the division. You will assist the Director of Student Services, coordinate data, and manage MDR meetings with school teams and administrators.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of teaching or counseling, with a preference for a Master’s degree. A valid driver’s license and strong collaboration skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required with a minimum of three years teaching or school counseling experience.
• Preferred: Master's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between school and central office for Section 504 procedures.
• Respond to administrative/legal/compliance queries from stakeholders.
• Assist with Section 504/ADA grievance procedures with OCR.
• Maintain all Section 504 data and conduct Eligibility/plan/update/MDR meetings.
• Attend MDR meetings and provide related support.
• Train staff on Section 504 mandates and regulations.
• Follow up with schools on Section 504 issues and ensure timely responses.
• Support data collection for state and federal reporting requirements.
• Monitor Section 504 rosters/logs at all schools.
• Collaborate with teams and principals on related needs.
• Coordinate Section 504 training and staff development.
• Assist with summer school tasks and communication.
