Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Deer Creek Elementary School to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals and to help include students in mainstream activities and health-related tasks.

The role involves guiding students, assisting in small groups, preparing materials, and documenting progress. It requires strong communication and teamwork with teachers, parents, and specialists.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with students with special needs desirable.
• Ability to assist with daily living activities and mobility as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assists in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
• Maintains records documenting student learning and performance.
• Supports classroom behavioral management to ensure a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervises non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompanies students on field trips for supervision.
• Assists with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Supports students with special needs in instructional activities to maximize inclusion.
• Participates in IEP process as requested.
• Assists with activities of daily living as needed.
• Follows safety rules and procedures.
