Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 48 college semester hours or an associate degree from an accredited institution.
• Pass Work Keys Test as mandated by the Alabama State Department of Education.
• Meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

Responsibilities

• Performs academic, therapeutic, and recreational tasks under the supervision of a certified special education teacher(s).
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce and re-teach material introduced by the teacher(s).
• Assists in supervision of students during lunch periods, assemblies, and other activities.
• Assists with routine classroom clerical and housekeeping duties and with preparing instructional aids and displays.
