Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking an instructional aide to support students with disabilities. You will assist the teacher with instructional duties, prepare materials, supervise students, and help with personal care as needed, under teacher guidance.

The role involves data collection, behavior support, and classroom technology use. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and experience as a teacher aide or with children.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under supervision of the teacher and follow lesson plans.
• Ability to work with individual children and small groups to meet instructional objectives.
• Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students as required.
• Ability to adapt to wide differences in student characteristics and abilities.
• Operate standard office equipment and learn to use classroom tech and basic medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records student data (skill practice, seizures, toileting).
• Provide discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Implement behavior modification plans.
• Assist with speech sounds, vocabulary, and language activities as directed by the speech therapist.
• Supervise learning centers and assist with materials manipulation.
• Participate in classroom activities and games.
• Operate classroom tech such as DVD, data projector, or smartboards.
