Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a instructional support aide to work 1:1 with a student and assist the classroom teacher with instructional duties. The role includes preparing materials, supervising behavior, and recording student progress.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and experience as a teacher aide or with children. It is a 10-month/187-day, 7-hour daily role with the teacher’s supervision and potential involvement in basic health-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under the supervision of the teacher and follow lesson plans.
• Ability to work effectively with individual children and small groups to meet instructional objectives.
• Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students as required.
• Ability to adapt to wide differences in student characteristics and abilities.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and learn to operate audiovisual/video equipment.
• Good human relations and communication skills; patience and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher by performing instructional duties and preparing classroom materials.
• Supervise student behavior and implement behavior modification plans as directed.
• Collect and record student data such as skill practice and toileting.
• Provide personal hygiene and physical care assistance as required.
• Read to students and promote language development; support speech-related activities.
• Operate classroom tech like DVD players, data projectors, or smartboards.
