Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a dedicated instructional assistant to support teachers of students with physical or intellectual disabilities. You will perform instructional duties, prepare classroom materials, supervise students, and assist with personal care as needed, under teacher guidance.

The role includes implementing behavior plans, data collection, and collaboration with therapists to support language and learning objectives. Requires adaptability and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience as a teacher aide or working with children is preferred.
• Ability to lift, position and assist students as needed.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the teacher and follow lesson plans.
• Good human relations and communication skills; patience and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records student data such as skill practice and toileting.
• Provides discipline in the absence of the teacher and follows established procedures.
• Implements behavior modification plans.
• Practices speech sounds, vocabulary, and syntax with students as directed by the speech therapist.
• Supervises learning centers during independent work and assists with materials.
• Operates computer and audiovisual equipment such as DVD, data projector, or smartboards.
