Job summary

Norman Public Schools seeks a Behavior Technician to assist teachers in delivering instruction to students with behavior challenges. You will implement behavior modification and de-escalation strategies to increase participation and improve social skills in individuals or small groups, including some with special needs.

You will collect progress data, maintain behavioral charts, and participate in IEP/504 meetings while supporting a calm, safe learning environment across the school day.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and passing paraprofessional exam/OGET.
• Experience with behavior-challenged children and students with special needs.
• Knowledge of behavior modification, de-escalation, and classroom safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional staff by reinforcing teacher instructions with behavior-challenged individuals or small groups.
• Work one-on-one with students with serious behavioral needs.
• Attend behavior intervention, IEP, or 504 meetings as appropriate and document progress.
