Job summary

Norman Public Schools seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist with instruction, supervise students in various settings, prepare and adapt teaching materials, and support classroom routines throughout the day.

The role requires Tier 1 paraprofessional credentials, high school diploma or GED, pass required certifications, and complete OSBI background checks every five years.

Qualifications

• Must meet Tier 1 Paraprofessional Requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
• An OSBI background check is required every five years.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and activities for individuals or groups as assigned by the teacher.
• Supervise students in instructional settings, off-campus activities, and non-instructional activities.
• Prepare, create, or adapt instructional materials and teaching aids as directed.
• Assist students with assignments and help set up or operate instructional equipment.
• Serve as the main point of contact for substitute teachers.
• Assist with student behavior management and respond to student needs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
