Job summary

Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Powder Mill Campus in Beltsville, MD seeks an Assistant Teacher II to support teachers and implement instruction per each student’s IEP.

The role covers instructional and behavioral support, supervision during emergencies, and participation in team meetings to ensure a positive learning environment for students aged 7–21 and in grades 2–8 pursuing a high school diploma or certificate of completion.

Qualifications

• PCM training provided; certification Practitioner level or higher required by policy.
• Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
• Experience with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction per IEP under supervision to support academic and behavioral success.
• Prepare for and participate in parent conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Provide supervision during after-school emergencies, including communication and documentation.
• Support curricular and extracurricular activities and school events.
• Complete instructional duties as assigned and provide independent instruction in absence of supervising teacher.
• Implement behavioral protocols and manage time use in instructional and non-instructional periods.
• Support the integration of technology in instructional design and delivery as directed.
