Kennedy Krieger Institute, Inc. is seeking a Classroom Assistant for the Powder Mill campus in Beltsville, MD.

You will support students with developmental disabilities, assist with instruction, and help implement IEPs and PBIS within a 40-hour school setting. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preference for an associate’s degree in education or related area; PCM/CPI training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in education, special education, or related area preferred.
• Previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• PCM or CPI training provided; must achieve and maintain certification at Practitioner level or higher for PCM.

Responsibilities

• Assist instruction and assessment for students with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
• Adhere to behavioral plans and use ABA/PBIS as indicated.
• Use behavior management strategies and implement approved physical intervention procedures.
• Support skill acquisition and daily living skills; assist with medical needs as needed.
• Accurately collect and record data in a timely manner.
• Follow classroom routines and proactive management strategies.
• Organize and prepare materials and assist with technology in instruction.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and school events.
• May drive Institute vans to transport students.
