Job summary

Waukee Community School District Sugar Creek Elementary in Waukee, IA is seeking a Special Education Associate to support instructional activities and student learning. Starting date is immediate, with a 7 hours 10 minutes workday including a 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Responsibilities include working with students, supporting teachers with strategies, PBIS, and supervision during activities. Qualifications emphasize a high school diploma and prior Associate experience where possible.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Experience as an associate preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in developing strategies to reinforce material based on students’ needs.
• Support generalization of skills in integrated settings.
• Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration in a team environment.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, field trips, and large/small group activities.
• Read to students and participate in oral reading activities.
• Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and ethical standards.
