Job summary

Waukee Community School District in Iowa is seeking a 6-9 Special Education Associate for the district pool. The role supports teachers by reinforcing learning for individual students or small groups and by implementing behavior plans and PBIS.

The position is full-time with a starting date of immediately, and carries responsibilities across lunch, routine care, and classroom activities. Qualifications include a high school diploma (preferred) and experience as an associate (preferred).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies tailored to individual students.
• Support generalization of skills in an integrated setting.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills.
• Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Support PBIS for all students in all settings.
• Operate and care for classroom equipment.
• Distribute and collect learning materials.
• Implement a behavior support plan.
• Maximize use of time throughout the day.
• Guide independent, enrichment, and remedial work.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, play, and field trips.
• Read to students and participate in oral reading activities.
• Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
