Job summary

The Jackson County Intermediate School District seeks a Teacher Assistant to work with general and special education staff, supporting quality educational activities and meeting basic student needs, including feeding, self-help, toileting, and communication strategies.

The TA will assist with daily living activities, behavior plans, record keeping, and supervising students in buses, gym, and classrooms, with emphasis on safety and individualized instruction per IEPs.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Preference for experience as an aide in special education or day care programs.
• Experience supporting students with IEP goals is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students and programs.
• Assists with development and implementation of classroom and individual behavior plans.
• Supports feeding, toileting, grooming, and daily living activities as needed.
• Assists with small group instruction and supervision in various settings (bus, gym, classroom, playground).
• Maintains records and performs administrative tasks related to student needs.
• Supports safety and well-being of students during all activities.
