Job summary

Jackson County Intermediate School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant to collaborate with general and special education staff to deliver quality educational activities, support basic student needs, and assist with feeding, self-help skills, toileting, and communication strategies. Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Possession of CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or required where applicable.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities from mild to severe.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate initiative and creativity with students and their programs.
• Assist with development and implementation of classroom and individual behavior management programs.
• Assist with daily student needs including feeding, toileting, grooming and other living activities.
• Provide support for non-instructional needs such as therapy under professional staff direction.
• Assist with supervision during bus loading/unloading, in gym, classroom or on playground.
• Maintain records and perform administrative support tasks related to student needs.
• Attendance is expected as a condition of employment.
