Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 30 semester hours required.
• Current Educational Aide certification, or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs, including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.
• Commitment to YES Prep Public Schools' mission and core values.

• Ability to multitask and collaborate within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education Teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Demonstrate and reinforce positive behavior; model appropriate strategies.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, IEP goals, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual students’ needs.
• Support lesson planning and reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for students with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Implement accommodations/modifications as directed by teachers.
• Adapt classroom activities to support objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide personal care services for students as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
