Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant (Program) for ASD at Lake Nokomis Wenonah Elementary. The role supports students with disabilities, assists staff with IEP-based activities, and helps maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

Two years of relevant experience and ParaPro/education credentials are preferred. Responsibilities include behavior support, documentation, and daily care tasks under licensed supervision.

Qualifications

• Completion of 90 quarter/60 semester college credits or higher.
• ParaPro Assessessment with a score of 460 or higher and a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience with children; related education may substitute for experience.
• Associate's degree in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support services to students with disabilities and assist staff to implement individualized lessons and activities.
• Assist students with positive behavior, socialization, and classroom learning.
• Monitor activities, de-escalate conflicts, and maintain behavior documentation for IEPs, FBA, and related plans.
• Assist with transitions, meals, medications, and daily hygiene as directed by licensed staff.

Education

90 quarter/60 semester credits or higher
