Job summary

Mesa Public Schools (Westwood High School) in Mesa, AZ is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education I to support certified teachers and specialists in monitoring and instructing students with IEPs. The role includes helping with daily living tasks, data collection, and classroom support.

Requires Associate degree or 60 college credits or ParaPro; experience with children; strong communication and ability to work with students, staff and parents.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits required at hire or pass ParaPro Test.
• Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom work/homework and reinforce objectives under teacher direction.
• Assist in developing instructional materials and maintaining classroom
• Collect data on academic and behavior goals as instructed
• Implement positive behavior interventions for students with challenging behaviors
• Respond to problem behaviors per PBIS and district policy
• Assist students with personal care needs as required
• Escort students as they transition across campus
• Monitor small groups to maintain a safe learning environment
• Maintain classroom and equipment for safety
• Model professional and respectful behavior
• Perform clerical tasks to support the teacher and student files
• Attend meetings to share information and develop skills
• Maintain regular, on-time attendance
• Assist with other assigned duties in the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
