Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) seeks an assistant teacher to support K-12 students with special needs in in-district classrooms and standalone schools.

You will collaborate with teachers, implement SESI’s instructional model, and help with assessments and progress tracking in a variety of educational settings. Responsibilities include supporting behavior and academic needs, supervising students, and contributing to daily plans while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license to perform student transportation using school van.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse group of students from varying backgrounds.
• Lead small group instruction and implement SESI’s academic rotational model.
• Partner with the teacher to provide customized behavior and academic support and to conduct assessments.
• Reinforce learning by assigning tasks and using data to tailor materials.
• Assist the teacher with large group activities, grading, and enrichment.
• Utilize behavior support and de-escalation strategies.
• Support daily planning and track student progress toward goals.
• Supervise students and ensure safety during transitions and activities.
