Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) seeks an assistant teacher to support K-12 students who need additional supports in in-district classrooms and standalone schools.

You will partner with teachers to deliver individualized instruction, monitor student progress, and reinforce learning using SESI’s instructional model and PBIS framework. This role offers meaningful impact and professional growth within the SESI network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Experience with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse group of students from varying backgrounds.
• Lead small group instruction and implement SESI’s academic rotational model.
• Partner with the teacher to provide customized behavior and academic support.
• Reinforce learning by assigning tasks, using data to select materials, and providing one-on-one tutorials.
• Assist the teacher with large group activities, grading, and accommodations as necessary.
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Implement de-escalation techniques and safety procedures as needed.
• Support daily plans and track student growth toward goals.
• Supervise students and coordinate with other staff to address needs.

Education

High school diploma

College experience or bachelor’s degree preferred
