Job summary

Abilene ISD is seeking an Instructional Aide to support special education teachers and help students with disabilities in a classroom setting. You will implement instructional programs, assist with self-help, and help manage behavior under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred associates degree or college coursework and possible Paraprofessional Certification, all while maintaining confidentiality and teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Attend the free AISD Paraprofessional Academy once hired.
• Associate degree or two years of college recommended.
• State Paraprofessional Certification recommended.

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Assist students with reading, writing and math activities.
• Help supervise students inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and playground.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality and assist with administrative records as needed.
