Job summary

Abilene ISD is seeking an Instructional Aide to assist certified teachers in delivering instructional activities and managing classroom tasks. You will support reading, writing, and math activities, help prepare materials, and ensure a supportive learning environment for students.

The role involves supervising students during the school day, assisting with assessments, and maintaining classroom organization in collaboration with staff while adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics under supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a certified teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during the school day including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Follow district safety protocols and procedures.
