Job summary

Scituate Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide to work closely with designated teachers to support students in the Special Education program. The role involves assisting with assessments, materials preparation, and setting up assistive technology under teacher supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and the ability to work with students in a tutorial setting, following directions from the Special Education Teacher and building Principal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to work with students in a tutorial capacity and follow directions from Special Education Teacher or Principal.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
• Experience with special education population is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer daily content area tests/quizzes and standardized tests.
• Proctor MCAS groups following DESE protocol.
• Provide coverage for Classroom/Special Education Teachers for meetings.
• Prepare materials for the special education department.
• Set up assistive technology for student use.
• Weekly training/consultation with liaison per schedule.
• Informal communication with liaison regarding student progress.
• Reinforce previously taught concepts in small group settings.
• Perform duties designated by the Principal and Superintendent or designee.
• Document students’ academic and behavioral progress.
• Adhere to confidentiality protocols.
• Reinforce instruction under a Special Education Teacher’s supervision.
