Job summary

Sleepy Eye School District 84 is seeking a Special Education Para Professional at the elementary level to support certified staff in meeting instructional goals. The role involves assisting students with reading, language arts, math, and computer activities, both individually and in small groups.

The position includes classroom supervision, field trips, and collaboration with teachers and parents to foster student inclusion and progress toward IEP objectives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of ParaPro or ParaEducator test as required by law.
• Prior experience with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, math, computer instruction and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist in administration and correction of tests and assessments.
• Assist with lesson prep and reinforcing instructional materials.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
