Job summary

YES Prep is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant in Houston, TX. The role provides one-to-one support for a student with significant needs, assists in supervision across instructional settings, and helps tailor lessons to meet individual goals.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 30 college hours, and an Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain it. It is a 10-month, hourly, non-exempt role with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 30 semester hours of college or post-secondary education.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs, including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors using behavior management techniques.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, IEP goals, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet each student’s individual needs.
• Support lesson planning by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students in self-help and academic skill development.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with test administration and scoring.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed.
• Adapt activities and materials to support objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions; supervise inside and outside.
• Provide personal care services as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.
