Job summary

YES Prep Houston seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs in all instructional settings.

You will collaborate with SPED and General Education teachers, tailor lessons, monitor progress, and assist with behavioral strategies to foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 30 college credit hours.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Interest in one-on-one work with students with significant needs.
• Ability to assist with self-help, mobility, and academic skills.
• Commitment to YES Prep mission and values.
• Openness to feedback and working under pressure.
• Desire to grow as a professional.

Responsibilities

• Assist SPED and General Ed teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assists with behavior management by modeling and reinforcing positive behaviors.
• Maintain data aligned to IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support teachers with lesson plans and reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist students with self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for students with significant needs.
• Administer and score tests and assignments as needed.
• Adapt activities to support classroom objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions and provide personal care as needed.
