Job summary

St James School District R1 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support the Special Education team and work with students with special needs. Responsibilities include clerical tasks, assisting in small group and individual instruction, monitoring behavior, and providing personal care as needed.

Qualifications include 60 college credits or passing ParaPro assessments or completion of a substitute course.

Qualifications

Experience working with children with special needs is desired.
Must meet one of the certification/completion options listed in qualifications.

Responsibilities

Perform clerical duties: preparing daily assignment sheets, tests, filing, typing, copying and grading student work.
Assist in small group or individual instruction.
Monitor student behavior and on-task time.
Assist students with personal care on an individual basis.
Participate in professional development to meet district/state requirements.
Comply with federal, state, local, and Board of Education policies and regulations.
Interact with students and staff and promote the school district positively.
Serve as a liaison between regular education, parents, and special education teachers.
Other duties as assigned by the special education teacher with approval of the Assistant Superintendent.
