Job summary

Hot Springs School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students under the direction of the principal and Special Education Building designee. The role involves assisting teachers, providing one-on-one or small group instructional support, and helping with health and classroom management tasks at the K-12 level.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and either two years of post-secondary education or completion of the Parapro Praxis Test.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Employees must have a minimum of two years with an accredited post-secondary institution or completed and passed the Parapro Praxis Test.
• Minimum of one year of successful experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Work in conjunction with certified teachers and reinforce curriculum with small groups or one-on-one tutoring.
• Supervise student behavior and safety in classrooms, lunchrooms, playgrounds, buses, and on field trips; implement discipline and emergency procedures.
• Assist with student health and hygiene needs and provide basic first aid as required.
• Assist teachers with clerical duties, grading, and organization of classroom materials.
• Attend meetings as needed and uphold school rules and policies.
