Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks an instructional assistant to support special education students and help implement IEPs in a safe, encouraging learning environment.

The role collaborates with teachers, assists with behavioral plans, prepares materials, and helps with assistive technology and health care needs while maintaining confidentiality. Strong teamwork and FERPA compliance are essential.

Experience with CPI training and First Aid/CPR is preferred and beneficial for this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students.
• Assist with strategies for implementing students’ behavioral intervention plans.
• Prepare materials, organize activities, and ensure needed supplies are available.
• Support in-class with promoting student independence and achievement.
• Assist with assistive technology and AAC devices to meet class and individual needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of records.
