Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support students with diverse needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP objectives, monitor behavior, and communicate progress to teachers and parents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with required PESB qualifications or higher.
• Multiple pathways to qualify as paraeducator including credits or apprenticeship.
• Ability to work with children and implement IEP-related supports.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to support participation of all students.
• Assist in evaluating student progress and organize individual needs.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Support students with personal care needs to enable participation.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings to stay informed on job functions.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding student progress and IEP goals.
• Implement behavioral plans and reinforce instructional objectives.
• Instruct students in academic and life skills in individual or group settings.
• Maintain student records and instructional materials for accessibility.
