Job summary

Fremont Junior High is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education I to support resource students under the supervision of certified teachers. This part-time role focuses on monitoring, reinforcing instruction, and assisting with daily living activities.

Under supervision, you will help with data collection, behavior support plans, and basic clerical tasks while promoting a safe, inclusive classroom environment for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire or pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom work under teacher's direction and reinforce objectives
• Assist in the development of instructional materials and maintenance of the classroom
• Assist in the collection of data on academic and behavior goals as instructed
• In collaboration with certified personnel implement positive behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors
• Respond to problem behaviors according to the student's positive behavior intervention plan and district crisis intervention policy
• Transfer and/or lift non-ambulatory students to assist them in daily activities
• Assist students with personal hygiene to support daily living activities
• Accompany students as they transition across campus
• Monitor groups to maintain a safe learning environment
• Maintain classroom equipment to ensure safety and order
• Perform clerical tasks to support the teacher
• Attend meetings to improve skills and knowledge
