Job summary

Lawrence School in Falmouth, Massachusetts, is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Aide for the 2026-2027 school year. This year-to-year position may include before/after school hours, bus or extracurricular support, and is paid per hour according to the district's Non-Union Personnel Guidelines.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma (post-secondary education preferred in medical/special education) and experience with special needs students.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required as minimum education.
  • Post-secondary education preferred with a background in medical/special education.
  • Experience working with Special Needs children preferred.
  • Safety Care training preferred or willingness to train.
  • Ability to take direction from and work under the supervision of one or more teachers.
  • LPN certification depending on student needs may be required by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the assigned student as determined by the teacher or administrator.
  • Willingness to be trained in specific behavioral techniques.
  • Awareness of medical concerns: allergies, seizures, etc., and student assistance protocol.
  • Accompany students to designated areas and classes as directed and assist with class work.
  • Attend in-service training sessions that pertain to special education.
  • Perform such other tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher and/or the Principal.

Aide on Bus or for Sports & Extracurriculars

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma.
  • Post-secondary education preferred with a background in medical/special education.
  • Experience working with Special Needs children preferred.
  • Safety Care training preferred or willing to train.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable (may require LPN certification depending on student needs).
