  • Alternatives may be deemed acceptable by the Superintendent/Director.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, score, and analyze data for eligibility determination and program development.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop educational programs for special education students.
  • Write Individualized Educational Programs with evaluation team members.
  • Complete evaluation reports and required documentation.
  • Guide teaching assistants in facilitating programming for students.
  • Assist general education teachers with inclusion modifications.
  • Guide teaching assistants to facilitate program delivery.
  • Support inclusion to ensure least restrictive environment participation.
  • Pursue professional growth through meetings, conferences, readings, and coursework.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Asst. Principal/Special Education Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • REQUIRED Massachusetts licensure: Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities, All Levels
  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities 5-12 may be considered.
  • SEI endorsement, preferred.
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in Special Education preferred.
  • Safety Care training preferred or willing to be trained.
  • Experience with the use of specialized teaching techniques used with special education students.
  • Ability to design or modify curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments for students with disabilities at the high school level.
  • Ability to implement behavioral management strategies.
  • Proficiency in— Vocational instruction/training, travel training, community safety skills, self determination/advocacy
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools/Director of Student Services may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer, score and analyze formal and informal data to be utilized in special education eligibility determination and individualized education program development.
  • Work with other special needs staff, specialists, and administrative personnel in developing educational programs for special education students.
  • Work in concert with members of the evaluation TEAM to develop and write reasonably calculated Individualized Educational Programs.
  • Complete evaluation and progress reports, educational plan information, and other data required by local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for ongoing diagnostic/prescriptive programming for children with disabilities.
  • Assist general education teachers in the implementation of modifications for inclusionary practices.
  • Guide and direct teaching assistants to facilitate programming for students.
  • Support inclusionary practices to ensure student participation is in the least restrictive environment.
  • Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, through readings in professional literature, and through enrollment in college or university courses.
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Asst. Principal and/or Special Education Building Administrator.
