Job summary

The St. Landry Parish School Board is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to support Special Education, Title I, and Pre-K classrooms.

You will assist teachers with instructional activities and supervise students during daily routines under teacher direction. The role emphasizes effective written and oral communication, mandatory first aid/CPR training within 60 days, and the ability to work closely with diverse students to promote learning and safety.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma.
• Must be Highly Qualified by exam or credits.
• 48 semester credit hours with 6 hours in Math and 9 hours in English/Reading (3 in English Comp).
• Associate degree from a state-approved or regionally accredited institution.
• Satisfactory completion of Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine classroom tasks with small groups and/or individual students under the planning and direction of a teacher.
• Confer with the classroom teacher regarding major decisions related to students; parent conferences are the teacher's responsibility.
• Assists the classroom teacher in activities related to instruction, grading, behavior monitoring, materials distribution, and maintaining classroom neatness.
• Assists staff in meeting students' needs, including playground duty and escorting students to and from various areas.
• Attends in-service training sessions as provided.
• Employed for the purpose of assisting students.
• Performs non-complex medical procedures as outlined in Louisiana R.S. 17:436 or related laws.
• Performs other duties delegated by the principal, LA 4/Title I Pre-K Director of Federal Programs, or Special Education Director.
