Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools, located in Deephaven, MN, is seeking paraprofessionals for Special Education and Lunchroom/Playground support. The assignments cover 6.5 hours per day across 184 days per year with diverse duties in regular and special education settings.

The roles require assisting students, implementing routines, and maintaining records; training in CPI strategies and personal care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified status, as defined by the MDE, beginning on day 1 of employment.
• Certification: Personal Care Assistant Training through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
• Demonstrated experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior modification strategies including restitution and resiliency.
• Demonstrated training, knowledge and application of CPI strategies, preferred.
• Ability to be firm but kind, caring but consistent, patient and vigilant.
• Ability to accept direction from supervising teacher(s) and work as a team member.
• Ability to write concise observational data, maintain a log and monitor behavior charts.

Responsibilities

• Lunchroom/Playground Para: supervise students, enforce rules, guide routines, and maintain records.
• Assist with cleaning lunchroom tables and report concerns to the principal.
• Special Education Para: support and monitor individualized instruction, assist with self-care tasks, operate assistive devices.
• Help implement IEPs and participate in meetings as requested.
• Maintain daily observational data, logs, and behavior charts; record attendance.
