Job summary

The Wake County Public School System seeks an Instructional Assistant for Special Education to support students with IEPs in various classrooms.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers with behavior plans, adapting materials, monitoring student safety, and maintaining confidential records; CPI training is provided. Candidates should have a high school diploma and meet ESSA requirements for Title I schools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ESSA Title I: six semester hours in early childhood education OR two years in early childhood setting.
• Maintain CPI certification; CPI training provided by WCPSS if needed.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with implementing IEPs and instructional plans.
• Assist with behavioral plans and data tracking.
• Prepare materials and ensure availability per lesson plan.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information (FERPA).
• Promote student independence and positive behavior in class.
• Coordinate student transitions between classes and assist health needs.
