Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
  • Experience with IEPs and special education programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP and uses diagnostic information to update IEPs as needed.
  • Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
  • Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and achieving IEP goals.
  • Uses varied teaching methods and accommodations to meet student needs; adapts materials as necessary.
  • Monitors student behavior, maintains classroom discipline, and teaches behavioral strategies.
  • Evaluates student work and coordinates progress report grades and report cards.
  • Attends IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
  • Stays current on trends and best practices through professional development.
