Job summary

USD #248 The Learning Center is seeking a dedicated Special Day School Paraeducator to support students with significant disabilities in a self-contained setting. You will assist with health procedures, implement behavioral plans, and help meet IEP goals under supervision of a certified teacher.

Starting date is immediate. Prior experience is desirable; education requirements include a high school diploma and a pathway of college credit hours or a qualifying exam within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 48 college hours or qualifying Master Teacher Online Exam within 90 days.
• In-service training: 20 hours per year.
• Non-exempt, at-will positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists students daily with health-related and personal care needs.
• Implements behavioral plans and monitors student progress per IEP.
• Directly instructs students in academic and social skills.
• Maintains a safe, positive learning environment during the school day.
• Collaborates with staff and communicates student progress.
• Restricts cell phone usage to breaks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
