Your Role in Our Success

The Special Assets Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring a portfolio of watched and criticized commercial loans, ensuring compliance with Cooperative Business Services LLC (CBS), underwriting guidelines and adherence to NCUA, CFPB, and SBA regulations. Below are the areas of responsibilities that will help you thrive and succeed in this role:

  • Collect and evaluate financial information from credit unions, borrowers, and referral sources for periodic reviews, renewals, modifications, forbearances, and risk rating assessments.
  • Ensure the timely completion of annual and periodic reviews, line of credit renewals, and modifications (including rate, term, and amortization changes).
  • Monitor loan maturities to ensure that loans do not exceed their maturity dates.
  • Track compliance with property tax and insurance requirements for assigned loans.
  • Send financial letters requesting updated financial information in accordance with the loan agreement, modification, and/or forbearance; this includes regularly following up with borrowers to ensure timely submission of financial information.
  • Oversee the performance of assigned commercial loan portfolios, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and CBS policies.
  • Maintain proactive communication with internal teams, including leadership, regarding portfolio status and pending reviews.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of CBS underwriting guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain core loan accounting systems, ticklers, and shared portals for reporting and tracking.
Requirements

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate, financial institutions, or Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs).
  • Strong proficiency in financial statement analysis, tax return review, and loan underwriting.
  • You work well independently and remotely with minimal supervision.
  • You have strong attention to detail with accurate information processing and high-quality standards.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective collaboration.
  • You have strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • You have an analytical mindset to evaluate data, identify patterns, and develop insights.
  • You have a team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate and coordinate across departments
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously
  • You are Proficient in Microsoft 365 products and credit spreading software
